Who are Nachtlicht? Nachtlicht is a band from the lake of Constance region in Germany, that was founded on october 22nd 2022. The band describes itself as experimental gothic metal/rock or dark rock. The music is experimental and versatile, so that no song sounds like the the other. What they have in common is their general gloominess or melancholy, which is conveyed by the members. The heart and brain of the band consists of guitarist “Das Ö” and vocalist Yume 夢, while the entire structure of the band is comprised of drums, bass, guitar, vocals and, if required, piano, synthesizer, cello and more. others. Both founding members are multi-instrumentalists, which is also reflected in the songwriting. On top, past experiences with being different, depression, self-harm and suicide attempts are also embodied in the music and lyrics. Vocalist Yume 夢, marked by scars, lives as a transgender woman and puts her associated emotions into the lyrics and music. She draws vocal inspiration from bands such as “Nightwish”, “Dir en Grey” and “Rammstein”, as well as from classical music. She writes the lyrics in German in an experimental and and cerebral language. Guitarist “Das Ö” draws his creativity from the simple things in life such as friendship and family. He is no stranger to deprivation and loneliness due to military conflicts in the world, but on all his journeys, music has always accompanied him. Inspiration for his guitar playing were artists such as “Tool” or “A Perfect Circle”, but also blues guitarists such as “Gary Moore” or “B.B.King”. In the darkness and gloom, in which nothing else can be seen, the band bundles the dark energy of the night and creates a light that shines for everyone, who has lost the way in this darkness. Nachtlicht (Debut-Single)

A song entwining the very idea of the band’s name into a pseudo-narrative story of an individual loosing itself in hopelessness but finding solace in music. As an escape from reality glected and expelled. As an escape from reality, the individual finds solace in music. A Nachtlicht (Nightlight) oughts to be a guidance through surrounding darkness, leading a path to itself, and keeping the ones safe within it's rays. The metaphorical protagonist, a crystal quartz, experiences a journey of nightly melancholy, feeding wounds, cuts and sometimes even hope. The song tries to be the chronicler and voice of what happens within the heartfelt darkness that has been consuming so many souls. An illustration for the dismal hours.
